Law Firm Earns Women’s Business Enterprise Certification

Jun 11, 2021

Lesley A. Wallerstein, LLC, proudly announces the law firm has earned Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) certification from the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council.

I thank my parents for believing in my ability to do math and science. When I arrived at MIT more than 30 years ago, I was among a record-setting class of 38% women. That fact is forever written on a Kendall Square subway station tile. MIT was, and remains today, a school where everyone is judged on what they can do, and not who they are. Why not study science? Why not go to law school? Why not open your own intellectual property law firm?

MIT Class of 1990 has 38% women

Breaking the glass ceiling even then

I will be joining trailblazing women business owners who have paved the road before me. With this certification, I hope to be a resource for like-minded emerging and established woman business owners. Corporations who need WBE certified legal services to meet diversity quotas or set-asides need look no further.

The WBENC standard of certification implemented by the WBDC-Midwest is a meticulous process. The application includes an in-depth review of the business, and a site inspection. The comprehensive process confirms the business is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women. By including women-owned businesses among their suppliers, corporations and government agencies show their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier diversity programs.

About WBENC:
WBENC was founded in 1997. The council leads the nation in women’s business development. It is the leading third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women. WBENC comprises more than 17,000 certified Women’s Business Enterprises, 14 national Regional Partner Organizations, and more than 350 Corporate Members. More than 1,000 corporations representing America’s most prestigious brands as well as many states, cities, and other entities seek out, and accept, WBENC Certified service providers.
